Alexandra Koren, BA, BSc, MA Integrative Arts Psychotherapy, Dip Application of Arts in Therapy and Education, Cert. Couns Skills

As an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist my focus is in the inherent value of each individual, his/her internal world and its impact on their experience of their external reality. On a practical level, this means that I have gained the flexibility to apply various styles, thinking and techniques in my practice including psychodynamic, humanistic, CBT, Jungian and transpersonal depending on the setting and the needs of the client. The usefulness of this approach is that it can serve as an aid when facilitating the process of integration for the individual, helping them in their development, enhancing their interpersonal skills and thus making an improved quality of life possible.
In addition, the use of the arts is an important component in my integrative approach. If it resonates with the client, the therapeutic use of various art forms such as creative writing, visual arts, music, drama and movement can serve as a gateway to the unconscious, presenting us with the opportunity to connect with deeper levels of our being. This insight, once externalised and acknowledged brings with it the hope and motivation for change. Through witnessed rehearsal of new narratives in the therapeutic space the client’s autonomy and self-actualisation seems a possibility.
Alexandra works in English, Norwegian and Spanish in central London.

Other areas of experience and interest include trauma, depression, development disorders (including learning difficulties), anxiety disorders, anger, concentration and hyperactivity.  She has had experience helping parents who are struggling to cope with their children and who might have found becoming a parent particularly difficult (like in the case of having post partum depression). Fiorella has an interest in helping people who feel lost, or unhappy, either in their professional or their personal life and have problems in their relationships with others. In her prior experience in Peru Fiorella worked with families of different ethics and social backgrounds, either in connection with the educational or the health system, focusing particularly on intercultural development, migration and identity.
